“Even the rain paused to bless their union.”

Love Beneath the Monsoon Sky — Suma & Rajiv’s Kerala Wedding at Olam on the Lake

A Lakeside Love Story

On 24 October 2025, the tranquil waters of Olam on the Lake witnessed a story that had begun years earlier between two office desks in Bengaluru.
Suma and Rajiv, once colleagues and desk-mates, had fallen deeply in love — through shared laughter, two heartfelt proposals, and a friendship that blossomed into destiny.

They wanted their wedding to mirror their journey: heartfelt, minimal, and rooted in culture. And so, in the midst of the Malayalam month Thulam, when the heavens weep with monsoon rain, La Florette Wedding Planners crafted a celebration that turned nature’s uncertainty into poetry.

When Rain Rewrote the Plan

The weather was far from kind.
Heavy rainfall forced a last-minute decision — a German clear anchor tent was installed on 22 October, serving gracefully for both the cocktail evening on 23 October and the wedding morning on 24 October.

The tent, transparent and elegant, preserved the natural beauty of Olam on the Lake — the golden sunset, the gentle breeze, the reflection of ripples — allowing guests to revel in nature’s charm without compromise.

“Sometimes the sky tests you only to show you its light later.”

Despite overnight showers, the drizzle paused exactly when the muhurtham began — from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. — and resumed only after the final blessings. A miracle in motion.

 Tradition Meets Tenderness

The wedding unfolded with soulful Kerala elements — brass temple accents, antique urns, and florals in soft pink and white.

  • Bridal Entry: At 9:15 a.m., Suma entered to “Omana Penne” from Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, accompanied by Chingari Melam and twelve Thalappoli girls – her cousins.

  • Groom Entry: Rajiv arrived with Nadaswaram and Chenda percussion, welcomed by the bride’s brother in true Kerala style.

  • Ceremony: The priest, chosen specially to honor both families’ wishes, conducted only the core shlokas and thalikettu ritual, blending simplicity with sanctity.

“Tradition is not a ritual —it is emotion made visible.”

Design Elements That Told Their Story

The décor remained minimal yet richly cultural.
We curated a storyboard corner chronicling their office-to-altar love story — a two-day installation that glowed during both the cocktail night and the wedding morning, refreshed only by new florals.

Near the stage stood a Memory Corner, a heartfelt request from the groom – in loving remembrance of his late mother – a sacred space where the couple paused for blessings right after the thalikettu.

Other thoughtful details included:

  • A Swing by the Cottage: Adorned for their post-wedding shoot but joyfully claimed by guests for photos.

  • A Jasmine Counter: Where guests could adorn themselves in fragrant gajra while waiting.

  • The Saree Tray Ritual: Beautifully decorated and handed to the bride’s mother early in the morning to ensure a smooth, graceful exchange.

  • Boat Floral Installation: At Olam’s entrance, our team transformed the traditional boat into a floral artwork with elephant grass and fresh blooms, a fitting prelude to the Kerala charm that awaited inside.

When Everything Came Together

Guests from across the North and South gathered under the luminous tent, sheltered yet still bathed in sunlight. The air carried the scent of jasmine, the rhythm of Chenda, and the joy of two families becoming one.

La Florette Wedding Planners orchestrated even the behind-the-scenes details — from arranging traveller pickups for guests to ensuring every ritual item matched the priest’s list.

When the rain finally returned after the guests departed, it felt less like an interruption and more like applause from the heavens.

“Every drop was a blessing; every moment, a memory.”

What Made This Wedding Unforgettable

This project was a masterclass in adaptability and artistry. From logistical precision to emotional design, every aspect embodied La Florette’s ethos — Florals | Legacy | Elegance.

Minimal décor, cultural depth, and the serene beauty of Olam on the Lake created an experience that reflected Kerala’s soul while embracing modern simplicity.
Guests left smiling, fulfilled, and awed by how effortless tradition could feel.
And for us — that joy was the greatest reward.
